Goal of the program: To create a greater awareness, and appreciation for female athletics in the Evansville area, thereby, setting a high standard of excellence for young girls looking to become student athletes.
Athletes will be selected by the Diva la Sports staff and must maintain excellent school citizenship and academic standards while showing good leadership and athletic achievements. The 'Rising Star' award nominations need to be under 16 years of age and maintain the same standard of excellence as the monthly award winners. Whereas, the 'Athlete of the Month' award winners are intented to be high school or college students, the actual age can be anyone 16 years of age or older. Nominations can be made by e-mailing us @ mike@divalasports.com and need to be in by the end of each month for the following month's awards program. .

Michea is a senior at Mt. Vernon Senior High School. She has a 3.66 GPA and has been on the High School swim team all four years. Swimming since age 7, Michea has held the school record in four separate events. Qualifying for the State meet all four years, Michea placed 5th in the 'Fly' at the Indiana Senior State meet in 2008...she just recently lead her team to the state finals with a top 20 finish while individually finshing in the top 15 in three separate events. Michea has been accepted to University of Evansville where she plans to swim and study nursing. She is an all around Student Athlete, having also ran track her first few years of high school. Michea is a member of Mt. Vernon General Baptist Church. Diva la Sports is proud to have Michea join a growing list of deserving student athletes as the Rockers Chiropractic 'Athlete of the Month' .

Mackenzie Mahan

Mackenzie Mahan
Mackenzie graduated in May 2008 as a Valedictorian of F.J. Reitz High School. As a Reitz student, Mackenzie played basketball, ran track, participated on the English and social studies Academic Super Bowl teams, and served as a Link Crew leader and math tutor among other activities. She also volunteered her time at St. Boniface Church, and she continues to serve her church community in its various ministries.
Mackenzie received a Presidential Scholarship to attend the University of Southern Indiana this coming fall; there, she plans to pursue a degree in mathematics education.
Mackenzie lettered three years on the Lady Panthers’ basketball team and was a four year letter winner in track and field. She won the basketball “Hustle Award” for two consecutive years. As a junior, she led the team in rebounds and assists; she led the team in defensive statistics during her senior season. Mackenzie also received the Kiwanis and R-Men’s Wayne Weller awards at the close of the 2008 basketball season. In track, Mackenzie was a member of the 2006 state-qualifying 1600 M Relay team. She also high jumped for three years of her career. She was the 2006 and 2008 Evansville Invitational high jump champion, and she also earned a 2008 city title in the event. Her personal record in the high jump was set at a height of 5’5”. She received the Jimmy V., Leadership, and R-Men’s Wayne Weller awards during her track career as well. In addition to school athletics, Mackenzie has also completed thirteen years of ballet classes at Jan’s School of Dance . She will perform in her twelfth and final recital this coming weekend.

Ashley is a Senior at Central High School. She has accepted a scholarship offer to attend Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, where she will be planning to major in Accounting and play for the Grenadiers (IUS Softball Team).
She has been a four year member of the Central High School Volleyball team, lettering two years. She has been a four year member of the Central High School Softball Team, lettering four years. She has been a 5 year member of the Evansville Stealers Fast-pitch Travel Team and an active member of DECA, where she advanced to State in 2008. She also has actively participated in Junior Mental Health and Business Professionals of America over the last four years. Ashely has volunteered for The National Kidney Foundation and The Colon Awareness fundraising events in the community as well as supported the MS Society and Breast Cancer awareness.
