Reitz Wins Sectional Tennis Title Graduates Same Day!

Seniors, Randi Conrad, Andrea Niemeier, Korinne Boyer, Coach Mason, Katie Scurlock, Whitney Brown, and Mary Arnold (Junior) celebrate after Graduation.

.The Reitz Girls Tennis Team did it...defeated a very tough and 'top seeded' Mater Dei team to advance, and then a Senior dominated North Posey team to win the 2009 Sectional Championship, but it wasn't easy. Both the Reitz one's (Korinne B. and Katie S.) and two's (Mary A. and Whitney B.) doubles had to defeat the areas top ranked doubles in order to advance...Mater Dei's Ones were previously undefeated all season and their Two's (sister act of Faith and Brooke Slaton) having lost only one match all year...it was tough, but the Panthers were also very good. Korinne and Katie only lost three times all season, Mary and Whitney were equally tough, posting a 14-3 season record...the Panthers pulled off the upsets and later defeated North Posey for the Sectional Championship. Despite being sick most of the day, Andrea Niemeier won both her #2 singles matches to help put it away for the Panthers...Congrats and best of luck to our five great Seniors: Katie, Korrine, Randy, Andrea, and Whitney, your experience made the difference...welcome back, Mary Arnold and Kit Rivers!

Soccer Divas close season with banquet/awards...

The Reitz Soccer program, under head coach Jeremy Wolfe, can be proud. The Panthers, holding high hopes for winning State this year, were defeated in the Regionals 1-0 by Memorial who went on to win the Indiana State Championship. "I said who ever wins that game would win the state, and they did." said Wolfe, while speaking at the banquet. "A few bounces here and there and it could have been us". Overall, a great season for Reitz with the varsity going 16-5 (losing 2 to Memorial and the other 3 to top ranked northern teams) and the JV going 9-3 with 9 shutouts. The varsity, with 6 seniors, finished with a 32-6-1 record over the last two seasons. Reitz willreturn 8 juniors, 2 sophomores and 2 freshman from the squad. Congrats to the seniors on a great career: Kelsey Schmitt, Stephanie Owens, Sarah Gott, Sydnie Pease, Brooke Southwell, and Carlee Fehribach, best of luck! The team was lead in goals by Taylor Adkins, Thompson, and Fehribach with 15 each.

Varsity Awards- Team MVP, Kelsey Schmitt, Offensive MVP; Stephanie Thompson, Defensive MVP; Mackenzie Wallace, Mental Attitude Award; Mary Arnold (all but Schmitt are Juniors).

JV Awards - Team MVP; Tarah Belcher, Offensive MVP; Haley Offurt, Defensive MVP; Danielle Dossett, Mental Attitude; Kailey Wallace.
